Zeal Engineering Consultants (Pty) Ltd was appointed to upgrade the existing Qumbu Substation situated 50km from Mthatha in Eastern Cape Province. The scope of work comprised of;
Qumbu Substation Upgrade:
-
Build a 132kV feeder bay to supply the newly built Amacwera substation
-
Extend the platform and reposition existing 132kV Ugie feeder bay and reconfigure the line.

Create a 132kV double busbars to connect the two 132kV feeder bays with a future expansion to reconfigure the Mjika & Mount Frere 132kV feeder bays.

Control plant equipment
-
Columns levels to be staggered starting from 150mm to 1000mm.
-
Internal fence to be moved dog-leg to building to demarcate from the HV yard.
