Mondeor Substation

Zeal Engineering Consultants (Pty) Ltd was appointed to establish a complete new 88kV switchyard on the site of the existing 88/11kV Substation and incorporate the existing substation into the new installation. The switch yard will consist of an 88kV double busbar system with a bus-section and a bus-coupler for ease of maintenance and flexibility in operating. The project will include the following:
 

• Construct a complete new platform for the substation, consisting of two separate terraces, on the existing site, in accordance with the drawings including all storm water management and fences.
   

• Cast new plinths and relocate the 6.6kV transformers and outdoor switchgear to the new position indicated on the drawings and reroute the cables.

The building must be renovated and repaired, internally and externally as prescribed by the Structural Engineer and the floor of the battery/control room must be underpinned where it gave way.
 

• Supply and install all the equipment for the complete 88kV switchyard, control and protection equipment, MV switchgear and 88/11kV transformers.
